How DomainGenTool works

DomainGenTool is a free AI domain name generator. Describe your idea in plain language, get brandable domain name suggestions, and check each one against the official registry over RDAP before you buy. No account is required, and your chats stay in your browser.

How it works

  1. Describe your idea. Write one or two sentences about what you are building, who it is for and the feel you want, then pick the extensions you care about.
  2. Get AI suggestions. The AI proposes a batch of brandable names with a short note on each. Ask for shorter names, a different style or another round, and it keeps the context of the chat.
  3. Check registration. Your browser asks the official registry for each name over RDAP and labels it Registered, Possibly available or Unconfirmed. The status never comes from the AI.
  4. Confirm and buy. Open the name at Namecheap to see the final availability and price, and register it there if you like it.

What the statuses mean

StatusMeaning
RegisteredThe registry returned a record for this domain. Someone already owns it.
Possibly availableThe registry returned no record at check time. It is a strong hint, not a guarantee: premium, reserved or just-registered names can still be unavailable.
UnconfirmedThe check could not finish: the extension has no public RDAP service, the registry rate-limited the request, it timed out or the browser was blocked. Check it at Namecheap.

Choosing an extension

Writing a better prompt

Name the product, the audience and the tone, and set a length if it matters. For example: “A warm, minimalist coffee brand. Keep the domain short and memorable.” or “An AI travel assistant with an adventurous name for an international audience.” Then steer with follow-ups such as “shorter”, “more playful” or “avoid made-up words”.

Privacy at a glance

Your request goes through our Cloudflare Worker to the AI model. Registry checks go from your browser to the registry. Google AdSense loads to deliver advertising and regional privacy choices. Google and its partners may use cookies or device identifiers according to your choices. Read the full privacy notice.

Frequently asked questions

Is DomainGenTool free?

Yes. Generating names and checking registration status are free. A daily fair-use limit protects the shared AI allowance, and you pay only if you register a domain at a registrar.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-up. Chats are saved in your own browser and restored when you come back.

How accurate is the availability check?

“Registered” is reliable because it comes from the registry’s own record. “Possibly available” means no record was found when we checked; always confirm at the registrar before you count on a name. DomainGenTool never trusts the AI for registration status.

What is RDAP and how is it different from WHOIS?

RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol) is the IETF standard that replaced WHOIS for domain lookups. It returns structured data over HTTPS, and ICANN requires it for generic top-level domains such as .com, .app and .shop.

Why does a “possibly available” name show as taken or expensive at Namecheap?

Registries may hold back reserved names, sell premium names at higher prices, or a name may have been registered after our check. The registrar always has the final answer.

Do you sell domains or show prices?

No. DomainGenTool does not sell domains and does not show prices. Purchase links open Namecheap in a new tab.

Can I check a domain I already have in mind?

Yes. Type the full domain, for example brewnest.com, and it is checked against the registry directly without calling the AI.

Is there a usage limit?

Yes. AI generation has per-minute and daily limits to prevent abuse. If you reach the daily limit, try again the next day. Registry checks are not part of that limit.

Where are my chats stored?

In your browser’s localStorage only. They are not stored in our database and do not sync across devices. Only recent messages from the current chat are sent to the AI when you continue.

Which languages are supported?

The interface is available in 18 languages, including English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Arabic, and the AI writes its notes on each name in the language you select.
